Law proposal from İYİ Party: "The name of the Alican Border Gate should be changed to 'Talat Pasha'"

The bill submitted to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly with the signatures of İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu and 28 deputies stated, "History is not only a record of what happened; it is also the legacy of great struggles, great leaders and great ideas that build the identity of nations, keep their memories alive and are passed on to future generations.
Keeping this heritage alive is the most fundamental responsibility of the state's mind as well as the nation's conscience. As a requirement of this responsibility; renaming one of our important border gates, the Alican Border Gate, as the 'Talat Pasha Border Gate' will be a concrete manifestation of the will to protect our history, our struggle for independence and our national memory. Talat Pasha is one of the leading figures who shouldered the responsibility of the State in the harshest bends of the fate line of the Turkish nation and revived the consciousness of existence of a nation from under the ruins of the empire. He served as the Grand Vizier in the last period of the Ottoman Empire and was not only a political leader; he was also one of the architects of the nation's struggle for existence and survival.
The following statements were included in the continuation of the proposal, which told the life story of Talat Pasha:
"Today, the Alican Border Gate being named after Talat Pasha is a sign of respect that will be engraved in our geography. This change is not just the changing of a signboard; it is a strong declaration of the will of the Turkish nation to protect its own history, its own heroes and its own memory. Because nations that forget their national heroes forget themselves in time. Changing the name of the Alican Border Gate and giving it the name of Talat Pasha is also a nation standing tall against the enemy, sealing its own historical identity on its borders. This step carries great meaning both in terms of providing historical awareness to the young generations of our nation and reminding the historical continuity and honorable past of our state. On this occasion, keeping the name of Talat Pasha alive at a border gate that has great strategic and symbolic importance for our state will be a worthy salute to his ideals, struggle and sacrifices."
